Octant Hotels

Octant Hotels, a group of luxury hotels across Portugal, needed websites that read as one brand while letting each hotel keep its own character. Brights redesigned and rebuilt the central hub and six hotel websites around Payload CMS. Shared patterns keep every site recognizably Octant, individual pages carry each hotel’s identity, and the path to booking stays simple.

About the client

Octant Hotels is a group of luxury hotels across Portugal, each rooted in its own destination. A stay here extends well beyond the room: local cuisine and restaurants, wine tastings, boat trips, stargazing, and other experiences give guests a way to discover the region around each hotel.

That makes the websites an important part of the experience long before anyone arrives. Guests use them to get a feel for each property, explore what they can do there, book their stay, and get in touch with the team.

Octant's web ecosystem brings six hotels together in one place. A central hub introduces the group as a whole, and each of the six hotels has a separate website.

Octant about

What we set out to do

Octant’s existing website no longer matched the experience the brand wanted to create, and the system behind it was difficult for the team to manage, tying the websites to a third-party platform. Our client wanted a product of its own, with full control over it: websites the team could manage independently, customize around its needs, and expand over time.

Another task was the brand itself. The six hotels differ in destination and positioning, and the new websites had to connect them under a single Octant identity, while still giving each property room to stand on its own.

The redesign had to stay simple, and the new websites needed to feel premium without distracting guests or complicating the path to booking.

In practice, that meant a complete redesign, a shared design system, a move to Payload CMS, integration with the existing booking system, and a flexible foundation for the hub and all Octant properties.

Octant what we set out to do

Designing around the stay

We started by defining the page structure for each website, then worked closely with Octant to shape the design around the team's preferences. The client was deeply involved throughout the process, reviewing the direction and fine-tuning details with our designers before development began.

For the central hub, we kept the palette neutral and let the properties themselves provide the atmosphere. Large-scale video puts Octant's landscapes front and center, while the interface stays understated around it.

The individual hotel websites lean further into each hotel’s branding. Colors, logos, imagery, and other brand elements set the properties apart, and shared patterns across all sites keep the group recognizably Octant.

Inside the Octant websites

Independent content management for every site
Brights built all websites with separate Payload CMS admin panels, giving each hotel control over its own content. Admins can manage the full website, while event managers have dedicated access to add and update events.

Flexible content, forms, and filtering
The Octant team can manage files, images, and videos, add forms, and configure filters for categories and experiences directly through Payload CMS. The websites support five languages: English, Spanish, French, German, and Portuguese.

Room and restaurant booking
Octant's existing Guestcentric room-booking system was integrated into the new websites from the start. After launch, Brights extended the experience with TheFork integration for restaurant reservations.

Accessibility and cookie management
EqualWeb adds accessibility tools for adjusting contrast, text size and spacing, stopping animations, and supporting keyboard and screen-reader navigation. A dedicated cookie modal also lets visitors manage their cookie preferences.

Technologies

Integrations

“Working with Brights on the development of the Octant Hotels websites has been a collaborative and rewarding experience. The project involved translating a distinctive hospitality brand into a digital ecosystem that balances a consistent brand identity with the individuality of six different hotels.

Throughout the process, the Brights team demonstrated a collaborative approach, flexibility, and a willingness to understand our brand's specific needs. The result is a digital platform that allows us to communicate the Octant Hotels universe more consistently, while giving each property the space to express its own identity, destination, and experiences.”

Where the project stands now

After launch, Brights and Octant Hotels signed an SLA for monthly support across all seven websites, covering ongoing improvements and new requests as they come up.

With the scope expanding, Brights and the Octant team stay in regular contact, improving the websites and adding capabilities that became relevant once the sites were in daily use.

The collaboration is also growing in terms of people. Octant teams involved in running the hotels now bring their own needs, and together we are looking at further areas of the business that call for custom development.
