The renovero team came to us with a request to optimize their platform. The new UI/UX design had to ensure that both customers and professionals could connect easily, and that the company’s content managers could easily and swiftly manage the platform’s content.

Our team started with a full-scale technical and design audit. Based on our findings, we had to create a redesign strategy that would:

• Improve navigation and help users easily create service requests;

• Give the key pages a full makeover so that every design element made sense;

• Optimize the content management system for renovero’s employees.

First things first, let’s examine what our initial research showed us since it laid the basis for our modernization strategy.

UX audit findings
Through the UX audit for renovero, our team identified several key issues impacting the user experience, including an overloaded site structure and a complex application process, all of which led to low conversion rates. Through stakeholder briefings and persona analysis, we outlined goals to improve navigation and simplify interactions.

Here is what we did in the process exactly:

• Conducted the heuristic evaluation of the UX interface, which showed a 6/10 point score and highlighted inconsistent design and poor user control;

• Determined the need for the Wizard structure overhaul to streamline the submission process by reducing steps and adding clarity;

• Established AI integration as a solution that would assist users in better task descriptions and category selection.

Tech audit insights
The tech audit revealed that renovero's code was well-structured, with modular design, making it easy to maintain and extend. However, the test coverage was low, with inconsistent styles, and some packages had vulnerabilities that required manual updates. The project’s page speed, especially on the mobile version, needed optimization, while the admin panel could benefit from improved localization features and easier block navigation.

After conducting the research, our goal became clear: make it easy for users to quickly find the service they need and for professionals to showcase their services. Here is what exactly we decided to do together with the client:

Optimized user flow
We set out to streamline the navigation by cutting out redundant steps and simplifying the journey across key pages like the homepage, category pages, and blog. Additionally, we offered to implement dynamic content logic that adjusts based on the user’s selected city, improving search relevance and making results more personalized.

Improved content management system
The next task was to simplify the article creation process in Storyblok to make it easier for content managers to handle updates. On top of that, we decided to integrate the Deepl plugin to speed up page creation across all localizations, simplifying the workflow and reducing the manual effort involved in managing multilingual content.

User interface optimization
The audit showed us that a cleaner, more efficient UI coupled with AI integration could drastically improve the platform’s usability. By refining the interface, we made renovero easier to navigate, which inevitably boosted user satisfaction

Every corner of the platform, including the homepage for publishers and professionals, category pages, FAQ, blog, reviews, and catalog pages got a much-needed makeover. Let’s get into the details of the website’s main features.

AI integration prototype
We developed a prototype that brought artificial intelligence into the picture. The AI integration aims to simplify the request submission process, automate repetitive tasks, and make it quicker for users to connect with professionals. As a result, the website gets a smarter system that anticipates user needs, making the entire experience more efficient.

Additionally, we performed an analysis of photo illustrations with different generative AI tools, like OpenAI and Stable Diffusion, to help the client find the most efficient way to generate realistic images for their website.

UI/UX design update
When it came to updating the user interface, we took a deep dive into the existing UI/UX, redesigning key pages and improving the visual hierarchy. The challenge was integrating new UI elements without confusing users. But with a cohesive design system in place, we improved navigation and gave the platform a cleaner, more aesthetic, and functional look.

Content management system improvement
Our team tackled the content management system challenge, making work easier for the people behind the scenes. With a few adjustments, including new plugins and a streamlined system, content managers can now create and localize material in far less time. It wasn’t an easy task, given the legacy system, but we made sure it was adaptable and future-ready.

Personal account redesign
Our team redesigned the personal accounts for craftspeople and publishers, expanding features to meet their changing needs. Previously, the account offered limited options, but now it fully aligns with new subscription tiers, each with custom layouts and CTAs showcasing premium benefits. New tabs and pages allow users to manage requests efficiently, emphasizing the value of upgrading to premium packages.

To help renovero improve engagement, Brights assisted in developing promotional pages designed to attract users following marketing campaigns. For instance, craftspeople are encouraged to explore the platform’s services through a 30-day free trial period, which allows them to experience renovero before committing to a subscription. We also helped the company design a marketing leaflet to promote the brand offline.

While we’re still in the process of rolling out all the updates, the improvements to renovero’s platform have already laid the groundwork for a significantly enhanced user experience. The revamped UI/UX is designed to make interactions more intuitive and accessible, benefiting both users searching for services and professionals managing their offerings.

Our work with renovero is far from finished, with both small tweaks and large-scale improvements on the horizon. While the client’s team handles the development now, we’re creating design solutions that help the platform evolve and run as smoothly as a Swiss clock. Right now, we’re working on a prototype for a new feature that will allow users to estimate the approximate cost of services — an enhancement that promises to simplify decision-making for customers. But there are also more ambitious plans in the works.

One of our larger initiatives is a web application designed to help professionals manage requests and handle their projects more efficiently, from managing client requests to administering tasks. As of now, we have developed a concept for this design, shaping the vision for enhancing the platform’s overall functionality and user experience even more.
